The National Institutes of Health, the premiere organization which has devoted itself in the funding of investigative study methodologies on different aspects has announced here today of denoting the eminent group of researchers at the Baylor College of Medicine, preferably the BCM and the Rice University situated at Houston as the first and only beneficiaries of the inaugural Quantum Grant. It has been stated in this respect by the organization itself that the grant has been made in due recognition of their earnest initiatives in the field of international research for the rejuvenation of the damaged brain cells in conjunction with the blood vessels that are very much requisite for the treatment of stroke.
From the concerned persons of the National Institute of Health it has been revealed that the definite three-year, $2.9 million grant, which has been funded by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), a distinguished division of the NIH, will advocate from this time forth the innovative researches on neuro-vascular regeneration, that s destined to the formulation of new brain tissues in the laboratory. It has been averred, hat the new brain tissue is intended to have its own blood supply so as to permit it to be placed into the damaged brains of stroke patients. At that very position it will be stationed in order to make available a source of neural and vascular cells determined with the continuation of the development along with the differentiation, while being thoroughly engaged in the repairing of the injured tissue in the process. Speaking on the occasion, Jennifer West, the venerated leader of the project's efforts at Rice said, "This project represents an integrated effort among leading scientists who have jointly authored numerous publications, mentored students and postdoctoral fellows, as well as collaborated on Bioengineering Research Partnership grants." It is to be noted that Jennifer West is the Isabel C. Cameron Professor of Bioengineering and also the Director of Rice's Institute of Biosciences and Bioengineering. On the other hand Karen Hirschi, is the Deputy Director of the Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Center within the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy at BCM, and also the principal investigator for the "Neuro-Vascular Regeneration" project. While speaking to this correspondent he said, "Each member of our team has made significant contributions to the advancement of their respective fields of research and will now be able to devote substantial efforts to integrating their work and developing methods of using neuro-vascular regeneration to help stroke victims."
