NCCAM Nominates Jean H. McKay As New Director PDF Print E-mail

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has come out with a fresh announcement of the selection of Ms. Jean H. McKay, M.L.S. as the incumbent Director for the Office of Policy, Planning, and Evaluation. It has also been announced by the organization that from this time forth Ms. McKay will be in charge and serve as the Senior Advisor to the Director science, science policy, and other strategic issues of the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. She will also be accountable for the supervision of the planning, evaluation, and reporting activities for the Center.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine's objective from the very commencement has been the exploration of the corresponding and alternative medical practices in several aspects. The sphere in which the NCCAM works at present is comprised of the rigorous science, training of CAM researchers along with the distribution of authoritative information to an assortment of public and professionals. On the other hand the National Institutes of Health or the NIH is comprised of 27 Institutes and Centers and is a noteworthy constituent of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In the contemporary age by virtue of its competence and perseverance has become a noteworthy organization. In the realm of the US health infrastructure it is the foremost federal agency heavily engaged in the conduction and advocacy of basic, clinical and translational medical research with its central concentration on the investigation of the causes, treatments, and cures for both types of diseases, general and rare at best.

It is to be noted that Ms. McKay's voyage to NCCAM hails from the Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Transplantation at the National Institutes for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, better known as the NIAID. In this organization she was designated as the Director of the Office of Program Planning, Operations, and Scientific Information.   

Speaking on the nomination of Ms. McKay, Ruth L. Kirschstein, the Acting Director of NCCAM said, "Ms. McKay is bringing invaluable experience, skill, and knowledge of NIH to NCCAM's leadership." "I am looking forward to working with Ms. McKay who, in this role, will have the opportunity to take a vital role in the planning and appraisal of the Center's investments across complementary and alternative medicine research," he concluded.
